Geography
Geography is an introduction to high school social science. The course will explore the relationship between humanity, the Earth, and its species. The class examines how both human beings and societies function. Students will explore global perspectives and utilize geographic data in order to analyze and interpret the relationship between landscape, climate, resources, people, values, and culture. The class will evaluate how economic globalization and the expanding use of scarce resources contribute to conflict and cooperation within and among countries including issues such as population growth, carrying capacity, and sustainability.
This course focuses on Critical Thinking and Cultural Geography. It is important to begin to understand the study of people, culture, the environment, and history as it connects to our lives. This class attempts to put things into context by looking closely at where we came from, where we are, and where we are headed as a global culture.
